James Richard Morris - Mysullivannews

Jim was born on February 15, 1948 to Chester R. Morris, Sr. and Bina W. (Roberson) Morris in Lincoln, IL. He attended and graduated from Sullivan High School class of 1966. He honorably served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany.  Jim worked various jobs in the area, however most of his working years he was employed by Schatz Underground as a supervisor. Jim retired in 2007. On January 14, 2013, he was united in marriage to Joan Kovalski. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music, cars and motorcycles. He will be missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife Joan Morris of Sullivan; two sons: Dennis (Margie) Juergens and Andy (Kendra) Bylo, all of Sullivan; his mother, Alice Morris of Sullivan; five grandchildren:  Garrett and Tyler Juergens and Madison, Tyler and Alexis Bylo; two brothers:  Kenny (Sherrie) Morris of Sullivan and David (Joyce) Bishop of St. Louis; two sisters:  Beth (Bart) Hildreth and Kathy (Ron) Juergens all of Sullivan; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chester Morris, Jr.; and a sister, Edith Everett.Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Rev. Bart Hildreth officiating.  Interment will follow in Cave Spring Cemetery, Sullivan, MO.Visitation wwas held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. MOCKSVILLE Aug. 27, 1938 - March 1, 2017 Mrs. Peggy Ruth Cole Winfrey, 78, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Maple Leaf Health Care in Statesville. She was born August 27, 1938, in Red Springs, to the late John Curtis and Flora Belle Hall Cole. Mrs. Winfrey was a member of Salem United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Kappa Club. Mrs. Winfrey had worked at numerous medical facilities including Davie County Hospital, Forsyth Medical Center and Blumenthal Jewish Home. She was very involved in service to her family, friends and community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Troy Winfrey; a sister, Dorothy; and three brothers, Graham, Jerry and Joe. Survivors include a sister, Carole Martin (Reinhart); a son, David Earl Winfrey; a daughter, Mary Winfrey Campbell (Donnie); a granddaughter, Brittany Victoria Clark; a stepson, James Robert Winfrey (Jean); and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 5, at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. John Erwin officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, at Eaton Funeral Home. Umfleet) Roberts, age 76 of Bourbon, MO, were conducted 7 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Mr. Tommy Wigger officiating.Visitation for Brenda was from 4-7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.Brenda Joyce Umfleet was born on September 12, 1940 in Fredricktown, MO to Clyde and Geneva (Strickland) Umfleet. She grew up and attended school in Fredricktown. As a young woman, she moved to Sullivan where she worked various jobs in the area while raising her family. Brenda enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was passionate about raising and showing Jack Russell Terriers. She loved the holidays and was described as a feisty, hardheaded lady.Brenda is survived by her husband Emerson Roberts of Bourbon; seven children: Harold (Skip) Massey of Joplin, Brad (Lisa) Massey of Leasburg, Lisa (Dave) Almany of St. Louis,  Tina (Pat) Cantwell of Corinth, TX, Suzy (Dan) Presley of Sullivan, Beth Fleming of Pacific and Theresa McCulloch of O’Fallon; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephew, other relatives and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; Clyde and Geneva (Strickland) Umfleet.Brenda passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at Life Care Center in Sullivan.All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan and Bourbon.
